"When I began my work in accessibility, I was heavily focused on three categories – vision, hearing, and mobility. Over the years, I’ve realized there are so many ways to approach what we call disabilities. For example, there are permanent disabilities, like being blind or deaf; temporary disabilities, which include recovering from eye surgery or managing an ear infection; situational disabilities, which are based on a specific set of circumstances; and cognitive disabilities which affect a person’s ability to think, learn or remember. With that in mind, it’s important for us to understand disabilities through a broad lens so that our products help everyone, and not only those with a significant disability. I’m particularly proud of our Texas Science curriculum, which meets students where they are in their learning journey by giving them alternative ways for them to complete activities. For example, we have a drawing tool that allows students to answer questions through illustration, but if a student prefers using language, they can type their response. While the environment around us may have barriers, our job at McGraw Hill is to remove those roadblocks so that all learners can be successfully engaged." #GAAD #GlobalAccessibilityAwarenessDay #BehindTheCube #RedCubeProud

We asked Intervention Product Manager at McGraw Hill School, Misty Kouba, what her favorite student activity is in Building Blocks Adaptive within Number Worlds. Here's what she said. “That’s a tough one. I think my favorites are the tangram activities. The ability to manipulate shapes on a screen and create another picture will be something young children are really going to enjoy. There’s a lot of variability and potential for discovery there.” Learn more about how Number Worlds provides students with independent practice to build math proficiency through engaging activities. https://mhed.us/3v9nWJW #Education #Teaching #Math
